What is PinClicks?

PinClicks is a Pinterest tool that helps you optimize your pins for better performance.

The tool helps with pin design ideas, keyword research, competitor info, content ideation, and much more.

Think of PinClicks as an SEO tool – but for Pinterest.

Who is PinClicks Ideal For?

If you’re a content creator who is using Pinterest to drive more traffic to your website, PinClicks is ideal for you.

We know that Pinterest can help you monetize your traffic with affiliate marketing and ad networks such as MediaVine, however, Pinterest is also a smart strategy to grow your email list by promoting lead magnets.

Pinterest users are actively searching for ‘free printables’, ‘free worksheets’ and ‘free templates’ for a ton of different niches, so creating freebies you can promote on Pinterest is a great way to increase sign-ups and get people on your list.

PinClicks can help you do all of this faster with the comprehensive keyword tools and competitive data you can capture.

Therefore, PinClicks is ideal for:

  • Bloggers
  • Niche site creators
  • Content creators on YouTube
  • Digital product creators
  • Course creators
  • Affiliate marketers
  • Service-based businesses
  • Podcasters
  • Coaches, small business owners and entrepreneurs who create regular content and have a goal to grow their email list

My Favorite PinClicks Features

Here is a snapshot of my personal favorite PinClicks features.

Keyword Research

Research any keyword and find a list of related keywords. This provides you with two things:

  1. Target keyword ideas you can use in your pin designs, titles and descriptions
  2. New content ideas to generate more blog post ideas

For example, when I search for ‘journal prompts’ the keyword research tool shows me:

Pinterest keyword research tool - PinClicks
  • The total search volume for ‘journal prompts’ – which is 800,162
  • A list of related keywords – for example, journal prompts before bed, journal prompts Christian, journal prompts daily, etc.
  • This list of keywords can be filtered by popularity (which I recommend doing)
  • You will also find keyword volume and follower info (if available)

When I find a keyword I want to learn more about I click on ‘See Top Pins”, which leads me to the next features I love…

Top Pins

The top pins section provides a good overview of top-performing pins for a given keyword.

When I’m in the top pins section of the PinClicks tool I like to do three main things…

  1. Analyze pin designs: I filter by ‘saves’ and then look at the top 5 to 10 pins to see what the pin designs look like. This helps me decide what style of pin to design—e.g., a standard 1000×1500 pin with a text overlay, a quote, or a list. I can also get a sense of the fonts, styles, and colors of the top-performing pins.
  2. Access top keywords: To do this I export annotated interests (more details in the section below)
  3. Review pin data, which shares all of the key data – saves, position, reactions, annotations and pin score.

Annotated Interests

You can quickly download the top annotations for the top pins for a given keyword.

This in itself is a massive time saver and my #1 reason to use PinClicks. You see, annotations as interests/keywords that Pinterest assigns to each and every pin that is uploaded to Pinterest.

This is important data as you can see the top pins that are ranking for a specific keyword AND you can access the annotations that Pinterest has assigned to the pins.

This means you can use these annotations in your own pin titles and descriptions to help you rank more easily on Pinterest.

Saved Keywords (and Keyword Lists)

I love making lists in general, so it’s no surprise that the saved keyword lists are one of my other favorite features.

As you can see in the screenshot below I have saved a number of topics related to one of my websites.

PinClicks Tool - saved keyword lists

Within these topics (lists) I can save related keywords I’d like to explore further.

For my purposes I saved keywords that I can explore new blog post ideas from or keywords I can target for existing content.

Account Explorer

This is a new tool, so it doesn’t go deep yet, however, it’s something you can use to spy on competitor accounts.

Simply add a competitor account URL and it will show you keyword ranking performance for

  • #1 ranking spots
  • Top 10 ranking pins
  • Top 25 ranking pins

Soon there will be data for specific pins and boards so you’ll get a great idea of different accounts top performing keywords, pins and boards.

This data is extremely valuable, not so you can steal competitor ideas, but so you can find inspiration on what’s working for your competitor accounts.

Other Notable Features

Other key features that I don’t use as much but plan to play more with in the coming months.

Pin Stats

Add any URL to the pin stats tool to get all the data you want about a specific pin. Perfect if you want to spy on a competitor pin!

Pin Stats in the PinClicks tool

The pin stats tool will show you:

  • Annotated interests
  • Pin Design
  • The board the pin is saved in
  • The alt description

You can also link to the pin on Pinterest.

With this tool you can upload multiple links to grab all the data at once. Tony Hill, the creator of PinClicks recommends using the Link Gopher Chrome extension to easily pull all of the links from a given page on Pinterest. Then you can copy/paste them into the pin stats tool.

Note: This is best used when clicking on an individual pin page. On this page, you’ll see a number of related pins underneath. Add this page URL to the Link Gopher Chrome extension to access all the links.

Saved Pins

Good to reference saved pins when you’re working on keyword research for a pin or looking for new content ideas and you want to save related pins.

Interest Explorer

I’m still trying to understand the ‘interest explorer’ feature a little more but from what I’ve gathered there are over 11 Million official interests (as determined by Pinterest).

You can search this database

This is where you can search to interests on Pinterest and find out whether

rank tracker

The rank tracker allows you to track your own pins position based on specific keywords.

Simply add in a keyword you think you rank for and get the data. See your pin position, week-over-week change, and search volume for the given keyword.

New Features I’d Love To See

PinClicks is being updated on a regular basis with new features and functionality, so the two small things I mention below will most likely be updated in the coming weeks or months.

Search Tracker

The current feature allows you to track dropdown suggestions and guided searches for specific KWs, along with search volume and followers. I would, however, love to see more data that shows the exact changes that were made.

Saved Keywords

I wish it would pull over the ‘see top pins’ button, plus popularity so it can be filtered within the saved keyword lists.

Final Verdict

If you’re a content creator who is looking to save time so you can create more pins to drive more traffic to your website, PinClicks allows you to do all of this faster.

There are some features PinClicks offers that you can do manually without the tool, except that it will take you a heck of a lot (hours) longer.

We all know that time is money so I recommend PinClicks for those who have the monthly budget of $29.

There is no other tool out there that offers the same features and I definitely believe that you will be able to improve your overall SEO and content strategy on Pinterest with PinClicks.

Depending on how much you pin, I would say that PinClicks could easily save you 2 to 5+ hours a week with much better results than manually trying to do everything on your own.

Without PinClicks you’d have to use:

  • Pinterest Analytics
  • Pinterest Trends
  • Find annotated interests by each individual pin in a different logged-out browser (without knowing the performance of said pin)
  • Manual keyword research on the Pinterest platform without the data to back it up

All in all, you’d be doing more time consuming guess work without PinClicks.

So, I highly recommend PinClicks for those who have the monthly budget. Give the 5 day free trial a go and see for yourself what it can do.

The best part is there are easy-to-follow video tutorials for all the main features so you can jump in and understand what is what pretty quickly.

PinClicks is also constantly being updated to include more useful features to make Pinterest marketing that much easier.
